Day 60…I Met UFC Randy Coutoure Last Night!
Hello Fat and Fit Fans,Day 60…February 29, 2008…Well February has been pretty much a wash as
far as my diet goes…Im still struggling with it. I have
been going to the gym but not working as
hard as I could be…
I did go to the gym this moring and walked for 45 minutes.
I have people that want to help me, but it is still a struggle.
However last night I had the good fortune of meeting UFC
Champion Randy Coutoure.
Some friends of mine, Maria Ngo and Ray DuGray, a married
couple known as ‘The Entrepreneur Doctors”, interview the top
entrepreneurs in a TV show The Strip View Live. I got a special invite
To attend last nights taping and it turrned out they were short a camera
guy so I worked camera 1.
There special guest for the evening was UFC Champion
Randy Couture. He was awesome! I got a chance to ask him for
his advice about my journey to lose 100 pounds and he had some
great ideas for me.
They filmed my question so I am hoping this next week to get a
copy of it to post on my blog. But Ray and Maria intervied Randy
for 45 minutes.
Some of the things that they talked about during his interview was:
* Visualizing his matches before the happen
* Visualizing winning
* Focusing the self talk in his mind and
* Controling his thoughts
* Getting rid of negitivity
* 10 week intensive training for each fight…
Randy Coutures main advice for me was to not worry about
being perfect and to be consisten. Practice the 80/20 rule with my
diet and exercise. He said don’t think about dieting but rather think
about changing my eatting habbits. Make sure that 80% of the food
I eat is really good for my body. Have a cookie but not box of cookies.
And exercise must become a way of life.
The one thing that really stood out for me during this interview was
the emphasis he placed on visualization. He runs all his matches
through his mind every day for 10 weeks before he ever has the
actual match.
So, this was my night with a World Champion.
I just want to say Thanks To Randy Couture for his
advice, his commitment to excellence and for his inspiration.
Before I go to bed tonight, I will spend time visualizing….
That’s all for today…
See you tomorrow,
Robby LeBlanc

impliment some new options.
I’ll record my future calls that I have with Scott

Want to Lose Weight, Stress Less!
Hi there Fat To Fit readers,
Kevin Davis here…
In talking with Robby this week and the challenges he is having with some stress in his life at the moment and how it is affecting his goal, I was researching some tips to give him and came across the following article. We all have different stressors in our life, and how we handle them is important. The first thing to do is identify the stressor so you know it when it occurs, then you want to redirect the instinctive and subconscious reaction with a better reaction without the ill effects of our normal reaction.
Here is the article I found today:
Want to Lose Weight, Stress Less! by Debi Silber, MS, RD, WHC
If you think weight loss involves just changing your diet and exercise habits, read on. You see, while healthier food choices and fitness certainly contribute to changing the way your body looks and feels, chronic, unmanaged stress plays a huge role in our weight loss efforts.
There are many ways stress affects your weight. The first way is by encouraging the intake of high sugar/high fat foods. This occurs because when you’re stressed, you ignite the stress response within your body. When this occurs, biochemicals and hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline are released. These biochemicals increase the desire for foods high in sugar and fat. To add insult to injury, the weight that’s gained as a result of this chemical release encourages the release of more stress hormones!
The next way stress causes weight gain is because many of us react to our stress by eating. It’s called emotional eating and we’ve employed this behavior as a means to self soothe and self medicate. The way this occurs is that when we feel stress, we’ve decided that the best way to find relief is by eating to numb, calm or distract us from our stress. Of course it does nothing to solve the true problem but it’s the behavior we’ve chosen to help us feel better. When we eat in response to stress, we typically reach for foods high in sugar to release a surge of serotonin; a “feel good” chemical within our bodies. While this may temporarily offer some relief, the payback is excess weight along with the problem that we’re essentially laying the groundwork for illness and diseases such as obesity, metabolic syndrome (a precursor to diabetes), diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.
Another way stress causes weight gain is because chronic stress inhibits restful sleep. When we’re tired or fatigued, we throw off our natural sleep cycle which increases the release of those damaging stress hormones. In an effort to increase our energy as a result of sleep deprivation, many of us also use sugar and caffeine for “instant energy.” While the excess sugar supplies a quick energy fix, it’s one of the quickest ways to gain weight because the foods we choose for an energy boost are usually calorically dense while being nutrient void. That means there’s very little value, satiety or fullness coming from all of those calories.
Many of us choose caffeine for an energy boost when we’re feeling fatigued. This gives you that feeling of being “tired but wired.” While you may be able to stay up longer this way, it prevents your body from rebalancing and getting back to your normal sleep cycle. When this occurs, stress hormones continue to be released which causes further weight gain.
Stress also encourages mindless eating. What this means is that when we’re stressed, we often grab whatever food is available or convenient. We become so preoccupied with our stress that we’re not aware of thousands of extra calories we may be taking in. Also, when we’re stressed, we may not want to deal with the extra thought required to preplan or prepare healthier food choices. The stress we feel may be so consuming that we don’t want the extra “work” of having to make healthy choices.
Finally, the weight gain you notice as a result of chronic stress makes you feel frustrated, discouraged and upset with the way you look. You also may feel angry or disappointed at the way you’ve chosen to handle your stress. For those us who are emotional eaters beware, because this is exactly the setup for another emotional eating binge. When we realize that we’ve spent years, maybe even decades handling our stress this way, we often come to the conclusion that “there’s got to be a better way.” While it’s the first step in the right direction, it’s an important first step to ending the battle how your stress leads to weight gain.

Day 50…Getting Back on Track
Hello Fat and Fit Fans,
I forgot to blog yesterday…
I weighed in yesterday at 329 lbs…Yup, I gained 8 pounds.
Stress has been getting to me. My good friend Kevin Davis called me
this morning and wanted to know what my weigh was on Monday…
I told him it it was up. This was a hard conversation for me.
We chatted for a few minutes and then I had to an appointment.
Right now I am struggling and in that moment I really appreciated
the call from my Team member and good friend.
I am suppose to have a call with Scott Sanchez later tonight.
When I started this journey, I knew I was going to need a
Team and right now I really need them.
I have excelled in many areas of my life but this weight
challenge at this point is a bit overwhelming…
Anyway, I’ll be back in the gym first thing tomorrow morning.
See you tommorow.

Day 48…It’s Sunday Night
Hi,
Day 48 …February 17, 2008.
It’s Sunday night and I am reviewing my goals and
plan again. I got off track the weekend of Super Bowl
and never really got back on track consistently since then…
When I started this project I said I would journal the good,
bad and ugly. Well right now I guess I’m in the bad and ugly
stage.
I have friends checking in and seeing what is and is not happening.
It’s a challenge. We, meaning Vickie and I had some challenging
events come up and we’re dealing with them…
But it’s still a struggle. I need to learn to handle stress better.
Stress knocks me right off my path. I don’t want to go into
what the stress was at this time, but maybe in the future
I’ll talk about it…
So, I am planning on going back into the gym bright and
early tomorrow morning…
I’ll weigh in and I’m sure my weight is way up again.
Hopefully not to far. But whatever it is, I’ll post it
on this journal…
That’a all for now…
Thanks for your support…
Back to…No Chips – No Dip- No Soda – No Candy!
See You Tommorow,

Day 46…Still Struggling
Hi,
Day 46 – February 15, 2008.
Just checking in…
I did workout for 30 minutes today..
Burned 354 calories…
I’ll check in tomorrow…
I need to talk with one of my team members
to get over this hump…
That’s all for today…
Robby LeBlanc
Day 43…I’m Struggling.
Hi,
Since the weekeend I have been on and off again
with my food choices and exercise…
My choices we not totally bad today…
I diodn’t binge or anything, but i did have a Subway Sandwich
which I told myself this morning that I would not do.
Plus I had some chips, and an extra food bar.
I had to go to work early today and I wasn’t able to get to the gym.
Then I had a someone else that I am working for call me in
early. Then I had a meeting I had to go to with Vickie tonight
about our home owners association.
By the time the day was done, I just didn’t feel like
going to the gym.
I like starting my day off by going to the gym. I actually have got
in the habbit of liking it. So I am a bit pissed at myself for allowing
something to get in the way of my goasl and exercise.
It’s my fault…
I’m going to bed and plan on going to the gym first
thing in the morning.
That’s all for today…
I need to re-set and re-focus and keep taking action.
Goodnight,
Robby
It’s Not a Matter of If But When…
Hello Fat and Fit Fans,
I’ve been skinny and I’ve been fat…and guess what?
Skinny weighs less!
That sayying, when you’re a big guy there is more to love…
I now know is a crop of crap!
This is definitly a journey. I have tried all sorts of diets
but nothing has really stuck. Actually, more specifically,
it is me that has not stuck…
I can’t blame the diets because they all work if you work them.
It’s me that has not kept with the programs.
When I decide to try this once again on January 1, 2008 I was trying
to think what has to be different. What do I have to do differently this time
to accomplish my goal of lossing 100 pounds this year.
Well from Day 1 I said to my girlfriend Vickie the two things I believe
I need to implament into my diet this time is:
1. Being More Accountable and
2. Planning on Distractions.
So the idea of publicly blogging my Weightloss Journey was one way
to keep more accountable.
This has been a very humbling expierence. But the fact of the matter is,
blogging my results, good and not so good has help me to keep on track.
Have I been perfect on my diet choices so far?
Forgetaboutit!
But I have made better food choices than I have in the past.
Knowing that I am weighing in and postitng my weight loss
and weigh gains has helped me in times of crossroads.
Super Bowl Sunday I failed, But I got right back on.
This week has also not been great for me, but Im still
working out and blogging my progress.
Which brings me to…#2
It’s not a matter of if, but when…
Bottom line… challenges, problems and distractions in life
show up. Sometime on a daily basis.
I knew when starting this journey January 1, 2008 I would have to
plan better for these events, because I know…It’s not a matter of if but when
these events show up.
And yes, even though I made an effort to become more aware of
such events and how they may distract me from my path, I still
get off track.
An unexpected bill comes in and raises my stress level.
I tend to eat more.
Someone close to me gets sick…
I tend to eat more.
Vickie injured her eye and I got stressed.
Yes, I ate more.
So, I am more aware of my eatting habbits and patterns
but I have not mastered it yet. But I’m working on it!
Awarness is the firt step, so at least I am more aware.
I was watching Oprah and she had some diet guy on
and he said people use food as a sedative.
Bamm! It hit me right between the eyes!
Yes, this is what I have been doing. I’ve been using food to
medicate myself. Some people euse drugs, Coffee or Cigaretts.
Me, I use food…Hmmm.
This was an excellent awareness.
I will have to sleep on that though and see how I can implament
another action to replace the habbit of using food as a sedative.
I do know part of the answer is in planning for events to distract me
and knock me off my path. Having an alternative choice in place.
Ok, so I’ll pick just one thing that causes me stress…
I’ll give that some thought and then finish this post…
I’m tired so Im going to bed…
I Gotta To Remeber….No Chips – No Dip – No Candy – No Cake!
Have a Great Day,
Robby LeBlanc
